General

The General Data Protection Regulation regulates the privacy and protection of personal data. In healthcare, the Medical Treatment Agreement Act also applies. This privacy statement tells you what data we process, why we do so, how we handle it and what rights you have.

Our practice

Within Osteopathy Van Dorp, we process personal data necessary for proper treatment and for its administrative and financial processing.

Data we may process

  • Identification and contact details such as name, address, date of birth, phone and email

  • Medical data such as medical history, examination findings, treatment plan and progress

  • Administrative data such as invoices and payment information

Purposes and bases

We process your data exclusively for:

  • Providing osteopathic care

  • Practice management and administration

  • Quality and accountability within healthcare

  • Education and information in anonymised form

The legal bases are the treatment agreement, compliance with legal obligations and, where applicable, your consent.

How we handle your data

  • We do not process data for other purposes without your consent

  • We will inform you of the processing through your practitioner and through this privacy notice

  • Everyone working in our practice has a duty of confidentiality

  • We secure personal data appropriately against unauthorised access

  • In principle, we retain medical data for 20 years from the date of the last treatment, unless a longer retention period is necessary or required by law

Sharing with third parties

We do not provide data to third parties without your explicit consent. Exceptions are:

  • When required by law

  • When necessary to prevent serious danger to your health or that of another person

  • When collaboration with other healthcare providers requires it such as your GP or specialist

Where appropriate, we enter into processor agreements with parties who provide services on our behalf such as practice software and accounting.

Transfer of your file

If you transfer to another osteopath, we will transfer your file with your consent. This happens as soon as possible and at the latest within one month of your request. Transfer can be done in person, by post or in a secure digital manner. You have the right to inspect the file and can request a copy.

Your rights

You have the following rights:

  • Knowing if and what data we process about you

  • Access and copy of your data insofar as another person's privacy is not violated

  • Addition or correction if data are factually incorrect

  • Request for deletion or partial destruction insofar as this does not violate a legal retention obligation and does not cause harm to you or third parties

  • Adding a self-declaration to your file

  • Objecting to certain processing operations

You can submit your request orally or in writing. An authorised representative, guardian or mentor can also do this on your behalf. We will respond to your request within one month.

Cookies and website

When you visit our website, functional and anonymous analytical cookies may be set to make the site work properly and improve it. We do not use cookies to track individual behaviour for marketing without consent. You can delete or disable cookies via your browser.
